SS "Danmark" helmet from Narva

A very nice and rare M42 single decal SS helmet from the Tannenberg line in Estonia. It was found in a trech northeast of the Kinderheimhöhe. Several soldiers were found there too, which all belonged to SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 24 "Danmark".

The Danes were fighting a bit more to the south, but during the first days of the battle on 26-27 July 1944, a Panzer-Vernichtungs-Zug of regiment "Danmark" was sent to this sector. The helmet was found in 2010, and has been very well preserved.

It was originally found with clips, but they got de-attached over time. Also visible are remnants of the helmet cover, as can be seen on the photos. On the liner, which also became loose, are the initials O.M. We don't know who the owner was, but there are some candidates known to us.

SS helmets from Narva are very rare, and to have one from a known place is just incredible.

A superb display piece.
