Wonderful and rare zinc Erkennungsmarke from a member of the 8./SS-Totenkopf-Artillerie-Regiment, which was part of the SS-Division "Totenkopf".

The "Totenkopf" division was formed in October 1939, and included an artillery regiment with nine batteries. We believe this tag was issued somewhere in 1940, and may have seen the Westfeldzug in France in 1940 as well as the entire Eastern Front campaign.

It was found near Kožlí u Orlíka, in the vicinity of Pisek in Czech Republic, where several units surrendered in May 1945.

The tag has been broken, but is in wonderful condition with the text clearly readable.
