Superb grouping of SS-Unterscharführer Karl Görzner, who served in SS-Divisions-Begleit-Kompanie 5 of the 5. SS-Panzer-Division “Wiking”.

It consists of a very nice postcard-size photo of him as an SS-Unterscharführer, with the Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse), as well as other decorations. The photo is dated April 1944, a couple of months after the Cherkassy breakout.

The document detailing his close-combat days is extremely rare. It was a paper meant to be added to the Soldbuch, and it counted qualification days (Nahkampftage) for the Nahkampfspange. The places Iskaszentgyörgy and Nadasladany are situated on the breakout route of the “Wiking” division from Stuhlweissenburg on 18 and 19 March 1945.

The third item is Görzner's leather belt and aluminum SS belt buckle, both in extremely nice condition.

It all came together from his family and is untouched.

A small, but fantastic Hungary 1945-related “Wiking” grouping, which might be researched further.
