German Erkennungsmarke of the 1./San.Ers.Btl.d.Waffen-SS

Very nice and rare zinc id tag (erkennungsmarke) of a member of the 1st company of Sanitäts-Ersatz-Bataillon der Waffen-SS. This unit, based in Stettin, trained combat medics and other medical personnel. The tag was found in 2021 near Brody, where the 14. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (galiz. Nr. 1) was destroyed in July 1944.

It could have belonged to a company's or battalion's medic, or to a member of SS-Frw.San.Abt. 14. The tag has some stains of corrosion, but overall the condition is very good. Tags of SS medics are very rare to encounter.
