Very nice zinc id (erkennungsmarke) tag from a member of the Stab/SS-Freiwilligen-Pionier-Bataillon 14, which was the engineer battalion of the 14. Galizische SS-Freiwilligen-Division. What makes this tag very unique, is that it is marked number 1, which means it might have belonged to the commander of this battalion. A very rare tag to encounter, since a battalion's HQ usually only consisted of a few dozen men. It was found near Zolochiv, a small town near Brody, where the Ukrainian division suffered heavy losses in July 1944. The tag is in good condition.
