Recently, a small group of tags was found north of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Berlin<\/strong><\/span>, in the area of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Boitzenburg<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>One (half) Erkennungsmarke belonged to <strong>SS-Korps-Nachschub-Truppe 103<\/strong>, while the other tags belonged to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 103<\/strong><\/span>, all with subsequent numbers. We believe these tags were meant to be issued as replacements, in case a member of this unit lost his original tag. Usually, both training units and field units had a certain range of tag numbers reserved to be issued as replacements. Since schwere <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>SS-Panzer-Abteilung 103 (later 503)<\/strong><\/span> was formed from the <strong>II.\/SS-Panzer Regiment 11<\/strong> in November 1943, most members of this unit were wearing either their original training unit tag or a tag of the II.\/SS-Panzer-Regiment 11.<\/p>\n<p>Around <em><strong>Christmas 1943<\/strong><\/em>, schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 103 moved to <em><strong>Holland<\/strong><\/em>, where it stayed until <em><strong>September 1944<\/strong><\/em>. It then moved to <em><strong>Paderborn<\/strong> <\/em>in Germany and was equipped with about forty <em><strong>K\u00f6nigstiger<\/strong> <\/em>tanks. In January 1945, schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 503 was transported to the front in <em><strong>Pommerania<\/strong><\/em>. One part was sent to the front near <em><strong>Danzig<\/strong><\/em>, while another part fought in <em><strong>Arnswalde<\/strong> <\/em>with troops of the 11. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier-Division \u201cNordland\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In April 1945, when the front collapsed, a part of the unit was encircled in <em><strong>Berlin<\/strong><\/em>, while other parts were retreating north of <em><strong>Berlin<\/strong><\/em>. This hoard was found alongside one of the retreating routes, and they must have been thrown away at the end of April 1945.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>These schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 103 tags might be the only ones existing in the world. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The tag we offer here is broken, but in very good and solid condition, with the text clearly readable.<\/p>\n<p>A super rare <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Tiger unit id tag<\/strong><\/span>, which would be a stellar addition to any collection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are proud to offer some of the rarest and most desirable SS id tags out there.
