Nice and honest but fragmented zinc Erkennungsmarke from a recruit in SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Ausbildungs-und-Ersatz-Bataillon 10, which was stationed in Brünn in Czech Republic, and which was the training and replacement unit of the 10. SS-Panzer-Division "Frundsberg". The "Frundsberg" division was originally formed as the 10. SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Division "Karl der Große" in the beginning of 1943.
After a long period of training and building up the division, it was deployed in Ukraine on 4 April 1944. In only a couple of weeks of fighting, it suffered heavy losses with 577 KIA, 1,432 WIA and 67 MIA. The tag must have been lost in this period, since it was found near Lviv (former German Lemberg).
The tag itself is broken in pieces, and not complete, but the pieces are solid with the text clearly readable. It also seems to have a very low number. A nice and honest tag from a very interesting unit.
