Original WWII German Infantry Assault Badge in Silver (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) - the rare hollow variant with a cutout swastika, one of the scarcest variations of this award. Hollow construction in non-ferrous metal (Buntmetall). Unmarked, but a documented and well-known production of Paul Meybauer, Berlin.

Ground-recovered in the Kurland region, Latvia, site of the defensive battles of Army Group Kurland from October 1944 until the capitulation in May 1945.

Condition: silver plating remarkably well preserved for a ground find. The wreath is broken on the right side (visible in photos).

The cutout-swastika Meybauer badges are among the most difficult Infantry Assault Badge variants to obtain, and examples with battlefield provenance from the Kurland pocket rarely appear on the market.
