Extremely nice ground-dug battle-damaged double barrel carrying case for MG34/42. Retaining most of its paint and with very nicely preserved markings.
It was found near Novgorod and doesn't come better than this.
Very nice display piece.
During World War II, the German army fought a significant battle for control of the city of Novgorod in Russia. The battle lasted from January to August 1944 and was a crucial part of the larger Eastern Front campaign. The Germans deployed several elite units, including the 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division "Nordland," the 15th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Latvian), and the 58th Infantry Division, to the area around Novgorod.
