Very nice zinc id tag (Erkennungsmarke), which was recently found south of Tartu.
It belonged to an Estonian member of the 1. Estnische Sicherheitspolizei-Bataillon der SD, initially led by Waffen-Hauptsturmführer der SS Manivald Randla. This battalion was rushed into action on the Tartu front in August 1944, and suffered heavy casualties there.
Sicherheitspolizei tags are not easy to find, but to find one from an Estonian volunteer in the 1. Estnische Sicherheitspolizei-Bataillon der SD is extremely rare.
