Wonderful and extremely rare zinc Erkennungsmarke from a member of the II./SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 49 "De Ruyter" (niederl. Nr. 2), which was a part of the 4. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier-Brigade "Nederland".

It was found in the fields of Sinimäe, on Dutch positions of the Tannenberg Line. Extrremely bitter fighting took place there between 26 July 1944 and the beginning of August 1944. This tag was definitely lost during the battles, although we do not know the original owner's name.

The tag was issued when this regiment was still called Niederländisches SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 2 in the Summer of 1943. These tags were always issued on the battalion level.

The tag itself is broken but complete, with a very nice, deep imprint of the text, which uses their classic font.

These tags are extraordinarily rare, almost never seen for sale, and this one can be connected to a very famous battle.
