These always require a leap of faith, but we believe this is an original field-made aluminum Erkennungsmarke from a recruit in the 4./SS-Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon "Deutschland". The number is known to have been given out, and another typical feature is the blood group letter, which was stamped on the same side on originally issued examples.

It was found near Böhmisch Zinnwald, nowadays Cínovec in Czech Republic, and was most probably thrown away in May 1945.

A unique tag, since field-replacements are rare, but certainly existed.
