Very nice zinc Erkennungsmarke from a recruit in SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Ausbildungs-und-Ersatz-Bataillon 11, which was formed on 1 May 1943 in Graz-Wetzelsdorf in Austria, and which served as the training and replacement battalion for the III.(germanisches) SS-Panzer-Korps.
Many Dutch and Scandinavian volunteers went through this unit. This specific number was given out to a Dutch or Scandinavian volunteer on 18 October 1944. It belonged to a Kriegsmarine recruit who got transferred to the SS.
Most of them ended up in SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 48 "General Seyffardt". The tag itself is in very good and solid condition, with the classic font for these tags.
The former owner applied a thin layer of varnish on it, but this is not really visible, only in your hands you could feel it. A rare tag to find and great display piece.
