Very nice half zinc Erkennungsmarke from a member of the 53. Schutzmannschafts-Ersatz-Bataillon, which consisted of Ukrainian volunteers.

It was formed in August 1942 in Mogilev (Belarus) with a strength of 331 men.

In the night on 10/11 February 1943, several German officers were killed by Ukrainian members of the battalion, and about 180 men deserted to the Russian partisans.

The tag itself is in very good and solid condition, with the text clearly readable.
