Very nice zinc id tag (Erkennungsmarke) from a member of the 3./SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Ausbildungs-und-Ersatz-Bataillon 5, which was the training and reserve unit of the "Wiking" division.
The tag was found near Lysianka, where elements of the "Wiking" division were crossing a river during the break-out from the Cherkassy cauldron on 17 February 1944.
The tag is in very good condition.
