Super nice and very rare zinc Erkennungsmarke from a Turkic member of Nachschub-Bataillon 522.

This battalion already existed from 1939 onwards, but in April 1943 it was reformed into six companies. The original 3rd Company was transferred out, and the battalion received a new 3rd and 4th Company (Turkic) as well as a 5th and 6th Company (Volga Tatar).

In September 1944, the Turkic-Caucasian Training and Replacement Battalion was formed in Janow using the battalion's Turkic companies. The tag itself is in wonderful condition, with the text clearly readable.

It was found near Kandava in Kurland and must have been thrown away in May 1945.

Great display piece.
