Georgian Legion id tag from Ukraine
€120.00
Cost of delivery: €8
Rare ground-dug zinc Erkennungsmarke from a member of the Georgische Legion.
This Legion was formed in February 1942 in Poland and consisted of Georgian emigres in Europe. Later on, Georgian POWs were also recruited to serve in one of its eight infantry battalions. Since this tag was found in Ukraine a few years ago, it most probably belonged to a member of Infanterie-Bataillon 824 „Ilia Tschawtschawadse“, which was fighting around Lviv in 1944.
The tag has some corrosion, but is solid and the text is very sharp.
Rare to find Georgian volunteer items.
