Very nice and rare zinc Erkennungsmarke from a member of SS-Sturmbrigade "Dirlewanger", which became the 36. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS "Dirlewanger" in the beginning of March 1945.

After crushing the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, it was deployed to anti-partisan warfare in Slovakia, before it was put into action on the Eastern front near Ipolyság where it suffered heavy losses in December 1944. It then moved to the town of Guben in February 1945 before it was annihilated in the Halbe pocket at the end of April 1945.

Over many years, quite a few "Dirlewanger" tags have been found there. The tag itself is in good condition, albeit broken, with the text clearly readable.

It has the classic font and it has two slots, as it should have.
