Very nice single decal SS M40 helmet which has been found in Hiiemetsa, near Narva in Estonia, where the 48. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment "General Seyffardt" was destroyed on 26 July 1944.
The regiment, which consisted of about 900 men, got trapped alongside the railway. It was subsequently destroyed in the forests there. A lot of things have been found there over the years, like this helmet. The helmet itself is a nice-looking Quist model with the remains of the classic Quist runes decal preserved. The helmet is in good solid condition with a lot of its paint preserved, as well as the remnants of the liner.
A truly impressive piece from a very historical battlefield. There is a reasonable chance it has belonged to a Dutch volunteer.
