Superb small estate from a member of SS-Regiment "Nordland" and later on SS-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 5.
It consists of an early zinc "Germania" Erkennungsmarke, a small silver horseshoe trinket (probably to bring some luck), two photos, and four documents. The "Germania" tag is in perfect non-dug condition, albeit broken.
Both photos show the owner of this grouping as a SS-Unterscharführer in a black SS Panzer uniform, well decorated with the Iron Cross 1st Class. The first document is a promotion document from the 2./SS-Regiment "Nordland", not long after it was formed, and has been signed by his company commander.
The second document is also a promotion document, signed by the battalion commander. The third and fourth document are both from March 1943, and issued in Stalino (Donetsk). One has been signed by the commander of the 1./SS-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 5, while the other document was issued by Armee-Feldlazarett (mot.) 4/542.
A very nice researchable "Wiking" grouping.
It is very rare to see ID tags being kept by veterans.
Doesn't come much better than this.
