Very nice and rare zinc Erkennungsmarke from a member of the 2./SS-Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon "Westland".

This was the training unit for the 5. SS-Division "Wiking" and was stationed in Klagenfurt in Austria. The tag was found near Lyshanka, on the break-out route of the "Wiking" division on 16 and 17 February 1944.

The tag itself is in very good condition. What makes it very rare, is the stamping SS-Verfügungstruppe on the backside. SS-Inf.Ers.Btl. "Westland" was formed in 1941, and the number indicates it was issued that year.

A very rare tag to find and coming from a very historical place.
